DR. P. PHILLIPS ORLANDO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER RECEIVES GRANT FROM MAGRUDER FOUNDATION

Orlando, Fla., December 15, 2008 – The Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Chesley G. Magruder Foundation. The gift will be distributed to the performing arts center in amounts of $10,000 over the next five years.

“We are honored by this generous gift from the Chesley G. Magruder Foundation and by the tremendous support we continue to receive from the Central Florida community,” said performing arts center President Katherine Ramsberger.

The performing arts center will utilize the grant toward the construction, design and operational costs of the facility. To date, the performing arts center has raised more than $86 million.

The Chesley G. Magruder Foundation, Inc. is a private foundation formed to provide funding for charitable, religious, educational, literary, and scientific organizations and programs. Since 1979, the Foundation has continued the philanthropy of its founder by providing charitable grants primarily to organizations located in Central Florida.

The Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center is an independent non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation dedicated to developing, building and operating the new performing arts center in downtown Orlando. The performing arts center plans to develop a mixed-use urban arts center with three main halls, educational facilities, a public theater plaza, and retail and commercial expansion with development partner, Hines. The performing arts center will be Central Florida’s destination of choice for arts, cultural and entertainment programming. It will serve our diverse community by educating and nurturing artists, arts organizations, audiences and students throughout the region and the state of Florida.
