FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE:
Orlando, FL (April 21, 2008) – This week in celebration of National Small Business Week, Mayor Buddy Dyer has proclaimed April 21-25 Small Business Week. The proclamation recognizes and salutes our community’s small business owners for enhancing our communities and expanding opportunities for all through vision, innovation, hard work and new jobs created, which sustain Orlando’s diverse economy. The City of Orlando continues to be recognized nationally as the place for small businesses. In March, the City was named as one of the nation’s best places in the United States to live and launch a new business by Fortune Small Business Magazine. The City has also recently been acknowledged by Bizjournals as the "#1 City in the Nation to Start a Small Business" and ranked "Number One City for Entrepreneurs" by Entrepreneur Magazine. The City of Orlando is also home to the Disney Entrepreneur Center, one of only two Entrepreneur Centers in the nation, which provides technical assistance and mentoring to prospective and current business owners along with the City’s Business Development Division, and our local Economic Development organizations. During Small Business Week, dozens of activities, seminars, training sessions, and events are planned to celebrate small business and equip small business owners and entrepreneurs with the tools they need to succeed. "Small businesses drive our economy, creating jobs, and opportunities for the community of Orlando," said Mayor Buddy Dyer. "Orlando continues to provide the perfect setting for established businesses and entrepreneurs alike. We are excited to celebrate our entrepreneurs during this week. I encourage all citizens to support small business in their communities and celebrate the success of small business owners and entrepreneurs and their tremendous contributions to our communities, our economy, and our nation."
