Mayor Dyer Officially Opens the City of Orlando’s New Southeast Permitting Services Satellite Office

WHAT:

Behind the emerging Medical City at Lake Nona with the UCF Medical School, the Burnham Institute, Nemours Children’s Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Hospital, the residential and mixed-use development throughout Southeast Orlando are the building permits needed to make projects a reality.

Studies forecast that the City’s greatest population increases through 2010 will occur in Southeast Orlando and the population in this area is estimated to be 52,000 by the year 2030, which represents 25% of the City’s’ current population.

To meet the needs of Orlando businesses and the area’s future growth, the City has opened a new Southeast Permitting Services Satellite Office providing easier access to permitting services. The approximate 3,000 square-foot office is currently operating with a staff of five who provide customer service, construction permits, residential and commercial plan reviews and inspections, business tax receipts and special use inspections. The office is also utilized as a base for the southeast area inspection team.

This location reduces travel time for area residents and business owners submitting residential and commercial plans and makes it more convenient to conduct business with the City’s Permitting Office.

BKGRD: The Southeast area contains some of the largest projects in the City of Orlando. In addition to the projects at the Medical City, the Southeast also includes Vista Park, Lee Vista Center, Orlando Corporate Center, Randal Park, a mixed-use development, Airport Industrial Park at Orlando (AIPO), Lake Nona and renovations at the Orlando International Airport (OIA).
