The Obama administration has committed $14 billion to fund the creation of one or more High Speed Rail projects around the country. Florida’s leading business organizations from Tampa, Orlando and Miami, state labor organizations, transportation and environmental leaders will be announcing their support for the Tampa-Orlando-Miami High Speed Rail project and their participation in a new statewide grassroots organization to support the project. Press events will occur on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the following times and places: 9:30 a.m. at Orlando International Airport. The Orlando event will be hosted by the Central Florida Partnership. Featured speakers will be Congressman Alan Grayson and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. It will be held at the Boardroom of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority starting promptly at 9:30 a.m. 11:45 a.m. at Lakeland City Hall. The Lakeland event will be hosted by State Senator Paula Dockery. 2 p.m. at the Stetson University College of Law. The Tampa event will be hosted by Congresswoman Kathy Castor and the Tampa Bay Partnership.
