ORLANDO (Sept. 15, 2009) – The Orlando Downtown Development Board (DDB) today announced that it has received two Awards of Distinction from the International Downtown Association (IDA) for two recent projects: The Paramount At Lake Eola and The Plaza. The IDA recognizes projects and developments in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa that show excellence in areas such as planning, economic development and sustainable development. Downtown Orlando’s projects were among 77 award submissions for the Downtown Achievement Awards. The IDA presented the awards during its annual conference. These award-winning projects were identified by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer as strategic investments in Downtown to add to the mix of amenities and destinations. The Paramount features Publix, a major grocery chain and The Plaza houses Downtown’s first movie theatre, the Plaza Cinema Café. “The number and breadth of entries made judging a difficult task,” said Jane Jenkins, chairman of IDA and the awards program. “The awards jury was impressed with the accomplishments of the winners and is pleased to honor Orlando’s Downtown Development Board among them.” “The Plaza and The Paramount At Lake Eola condominiums
