Mayor Buddy Dyer to Engage and Assist
Homeless in Downtown Orlando
WHAT:
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will hit the streets of Downtown to work
side-by-side with an outreach coordinator from the Central Florida
Commission on Homelessness to engage homeless individuals in an effort
to refer them to local services that can assist them in acquiring ID,
medical care and transitional housing.
Since the outreach coordinator has been on board with the Central
Florida Commission on Homelessness, he has assisted approximately 400
homeless individuals and placed 25 of them into housing.
WHY:
An important part of helping the homeless is to get them linked up
with services that empower them to have a better quality of life. The
ultimate goal of these outreach efforts is to assist individuals
overcome the barriers they face in their journey from homelessness to
permanent housing.

Orlando City Hall Plaza (Downtown outreach begins here*)
400 South Orange Avenue
* The Mayor will begin this work-along at City Hall
Plaza and walk up and down the major thoroughfares of Orange Avenue and
Central Boulevard. The walking tour will begin at Orlando City Hall
Plaza and continue down Orange Avenue, down Central Boulevard and around
Lake Eola if time permits.

The mission of the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness is to
continually assess and address the economic and social impact of
homelessness on communities within Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties
and the City of Orlando in the furtherance of its goal to end

ORLANDO MAYOR DYER’S WORK-ALONGS:
As part of his Strengthen Orlando plan, Mayor Dyer has transitioned
his series of work-alongs to focus primarily on community service.
Through leading by example, Mayor Dyer encourages citizens to get
involved and continually give back to their community.
