Community Builder Award

The City of Orlando values the contributions of non-profit and charitable organizations that help build a stronger community. To recognize these organizations and their volunteers, who have a significant impact on the well-being of our community, Mayor Buddy Dyer has created the Community Builder Award. This award honors citizen volunteers and organizations that excel in their efforts to build a better community.

These individuals and organizations, with determination and heart, have improved our community in many areas, including the environment, arts, crime prevention, education, sports, recreation and much more. Through their actions, these community builders make our city a better place to live, work and raise a family.

 

Mayor Dyer will present the Community Builder Award at his annual Neighborhood and Community Summit held in the spring of each year. This award will be presented for the second time at the 2012 Neighborhood and Community Summit.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Nonprofit and charitable organizations implementing projects and programs within the City of Orlando OR individuals who volunteer with nonprofit or charitable organizations implementing projects and programs within the City of Orlando.
  • Self nominations are encouraged.
  • Organizations must be established in the community for a minimum of 2 years.

CRITERIA

  • The nominees will be judged on the excellence of their contributions to our community. Community improvement, commitment, effort, impact, originality and overall vision will be key considerations. Nominations will be judged by an independent panel of judges.
  • Nominees’ contributions to the community must occur between February 1, 2011 and February 1, 2012.
  • Nominators will be asked to provide the following: a completed nomination form highlighting specific achievements and their impact on the City of Orlando community and two letters of recommendation in support of the nomination.

NOMINATION DEADLINE FEBRUARY 28 OF EACH YEAR

Nominations may be submitted throughout the year by completing the online nomination form. Nominations for 2012 consideration must be received by 5 p.m. on February 28, 2012.The City of Orlando will contact the nominator and the nominee after the selection process in March 2012.For additional information, contact the Office of Community Affairs at 407.246.2500 or visit cityoforlando.net/communitybuilder.
