L. Claudia Allen Senior Center History

Highlights:

L. Claudia Allen Park is adjacent to the senior center and provides many activities in a beautiful lakeside setting. The park is utilized by center participants as well as by the entire neighborhood.

Programs:

Beginner's Sewing Class:   Learn basic sewing skills; Tuesdays 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Bid Whist Club: Come join a fun group and play a fun card game on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 12 - 4 p.m.; Refreshments will be served.

Old School Shooters: Join your friends in a friendly game of pool, or hang around and sharpen your skills to compete; Monday - Friday 10 - 11 a.m.

Bingo: Play one of our favorite games; You may be the lucky one that can yell BINGO and win; Tuesdays 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Bridge Club: Join this great group and learn to play bridge every Friday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Ceramics: Learn how to create ceramics masterpieces;Tuesdays 1  - 3 p.m.

Computer Lab: Offering open lab for research, resume writing, homework, internet access, and other activities. Hours for open lab are:
     Mon & Wed:
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Crochet and Knitting: Make a scarf, blanket, or create your own decorations.

Fitness Room: Treadmills, stationary bikes, stairmaster and free weights; Monday thru Friday 9:15 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Kick Aerobics: Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.

Movie Day: Tuesdays Nutritional Program: Dine with other seniors and stay to enjoy games, crafts and other social activities and events; Monday - Friday.

Pokeno: Enjoy a game similar to Bingo but played with a deck of cards instead.

Road Runners Club: Enjoy a day of shopping and lunch on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program): Come join every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursday of each month and learn to make exciting projects.

Senior Anglers: Come out and fish with senior fisherman and women for a fun and relaxing sport.

Zumba Fitness Class: Zumba is an aerobic fitness progra that combines Latin and international music in dance routines featuring aerobic and fitness interval training.

Rentals and Public Use:

L. Claudia Allen Senior Center offers certain rooms within the facility for rent for events such as birthday parties, meetings, showers, and so on.
  • Auditorium / Ball Room - $100 per hour - Capacity 125 persons.
  • Arts & Crafts Room - $30 per hour - Capacity 30 persons.
  • Kitchen - $15 per hour
Rental Policy and Procedures
  • $100 Damage Deposit Required. Deposit will be refunded 4 to 6 weeks after rental if no damage was found after the rental.
  • Insurance is not refundable and prices range from $31 to $80 and will protect any injuries that may happen during the rental.
  • No Alcoholic Beverages allowed.
  • All rentals must be scheduled 14 days prior to event.
  • All rentals must be paid in full at time of booking.
  • Rentals must be cancelled at least 72 hours prior to event to receive a refund.
Public Use
  • Fitness Room, Computer Lab and Pool Tables are open to seniors from the general public at no charge during operational hours.
