Pottery Studio Classes

Creative Acrylic Paint with Kaye Callaway
Mondays, April 23 – June 4
Times:
6 - 9 p.m. Cost: $105 (includes start up materials)

Learn basic acrylic painting principles, techniques and composition to develop your skills through the world of color, brushes, acrylic paint and your imagination. Previous painting experience is not required for this course. Each student will be encouraged to develop their personal style.


Precious Metal Clay Jewelry With Ann Robinson
Tuesdays, April 24 – May 15
Times: 1 – 4 p.m. Cost: $95 (includes materials)

Create unique silver jewelry, including a pendant and earrings. You will learn how to use a special clay call PMC that when it’s fired it will be sterling silver.

 


Painting on Silk with AnneMarie Guzman
Tuesdays, April 24 – May 15
Time: 6 – 9 p.m. Cost: $85 (includes materials)

Annemarie will guide you through the painterly process of painting on silk. Create unique scarves that will embellish your wardrobe. (The program has been extended an extra week).

 


Relief Printmaking with Jack Toepke
Thursdays, April 26 - May 31
Time: 6 – 9 p.m. Cost: $110 (includes materials)

Explore the mysteries of printmaking using single color, reductive and/or multi-block color printing techniques. Jack will guide you through cutting into linoleum to create unique designs you can print. He will also introduce you to materials made with space age technology to incorporate into your work. No art or printing experience required.


Hand Building Serving Bowls with Susan Bach
Tuesdays, April 24 – May 29, 6 – 9 p.m. or
Fridays, April 27 – June 1, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m..
Cost: $100 (includes materials)

Susan will be teaching hand building basics in slab construction. You will be creating one large and one small serving platter/shallow bowl that are works of art as well as fun and functional. Using patterning and resist techniques, Susan will show you amazing ways to decorate with under glazes. This class will be open to intermediate and advanced students.


Hand Building Made Easy with Jane Skinner
April 26 – May 31
Times: 1 - 4 p.m. Cost: $80

Jane will help you make hand building projects easy and creative using simple techniques. You’ll produce unique pottery objects that will function in your kitchen and home. Clay and tools available for purchase.

 


Mosaic Magic with Lou Ann Weeks
Thursdays, April 26 – May 31
Time: 6 – 9 p.m. Cost: $105 (includes materials)

Spring is here and time to spruce up our gardens! LouAnn will be teaching the art of creating beautiful mosaics planters for your outdoor areas. You will learn the mosaic process from start to finish. No art or mosaic experience necessary!


Totem Sculptures with Jane Skinner
April 26 – May 31
Times: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Cost: $80

This class will be an interesting challenge to construct your very own
garden totem. The hand building techniques will enable you to assemble all the pieces for your unique sculpture. Clay and tools are available for purchase.
 


Wheeling Throwing Jim Philips
April 26 – May 31
Times: 6 – 9 p.m. Cost: $80

Learn wheel throwing techniques to enhance your pottery making skills with local clay artist Jim Phillips, Previous hand building experience is
helpful. Clay and tools available for purchase.


Wheel throwing 101 with Jane Skinner
Fridays, April 27 – June 1
Times: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Cost: $80

Beginners to intermediate will benefit the one on one instruction to learn the craft of wheel throwing. Previous hand building experience is helpful. Clay and tools are available for purchase.


Family Night Pottery
Wednesdays, 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Would you like to play in the mud? Bring your kids and have a creative family experience making cool clay projects. The one night class includes all materials and firing fees Adults $10 and Kids $5 each. Children must be at least 6 years old and completed kindergarten to participate. Call to reserve your space!

Kids Summer Clay Camp
The City of Orlando’s Pottery Studio offers classes once a week
for three weeks. Kids ages 6 – 16 will design many fun & imaginative clay projects.

Session 1: 25 Spaces Available per Session
Thursdays, June 14 – 28 (3 classes),
9:30 – 11 a.m. or 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Fridays, June 15 – 29 (3 classes),
9:30 – 11 a.m. or 1 – 2:30 p.m.

Session 2: 25 Spaces Available per Session
Thursdays, July 12 – 26 (3 classes),
9:30 – 11 a.m. or 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Fridays, July 13 – 27 (3 classes),
9:30 – 11 a.m. or 1 – 2:30 p.m.

Registration begins Saturday, April 14th:
City Residents 9 a.m. - noon (Cost: $35 / session)
Non-residents 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. (Cost: $50 / session)

The Art Extravaganza will conclude the summer clay camps at an art show and ice cream social at Orlando’s City Hall on Saturday August 11, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
