54th annual Freedom Fund and Awards
Banquet
On Friday, September 11, 2009, the Orange County Chapter of the National
Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) held its 54th annual
Freedom Fund and Awards Banquet at the Rosen Centre Hotel. As a part of the
program for the evening, the Central Florida Police Athletic League (CFPAL) was
awarded the Community Partner Award.
Accepting the award on behalf of CFPAL was Captain Charles Robinson of
the Orlando Police Department. Captain Robinson is the president of the
board of Directors of CFPAL and has been involved with CFPAL for more than 15
years. The mission of CFPAL is to prevent crime and violence, develop
citizenship skills and promote respect for the law by providing athletic,
educational and recreational opportunities to at-risk youth in the Central
Florida.
