Program Goals
The City of
Orlando has established goals of 18% minority and 6% women-owned business participation
for goods, service and construction contracts where minority or women-owned business bid
and meet contract specifications. Adjustments to the goals are made for material oriented
specialty contracts.
Comparable MBE
and WBE goals have been established for minority and women group employment and
sub-contract participation.
The
MBE Program is intended to increase the opportunity for minority firms to participate in
city procurement. The program is administered by the Minority Business Enterprise Office.
An education and outreach effort, the program identifies and registers minority and women
firms interested in supplying goods and services to the city. Program activities include
seminars, workshops and individualized consultation to inform M/WBE firms of city
procurement policies and procedures. There are over 400 business opportunities with the
City of Orlando.
