Current Internship Openings
Question: What is the City of Orlando Internship Program?
Answer: This is a program designed for currently enrolled college students and is intended to give real life working experience within your major.
Question: Am I eligible for your program?
Answer: Your are eligible if your meet the following requirements:
- You are currently enrolled in college
- You will receive college credits for your internship
- You meet the requirements of the particular job posting
- You are recommended by your College Placement office or Faculty Advisor

Question: How do I know about Internship Opportunities?
Answer: All internship opening are sent to your college Placement office and/or Faculty Advisor.
- All openings are advertised on web site – cityoforlando.net
- All openings are on our bulletin board at City Hall Human Resources – 400 S. Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801
Question: I have seen an opening I wish to apply for. How do I apply?
Answer: DO NOT APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE CITY. Your application will not be accepted. On identifying a position of interest, please do the following:
- Contact your Placement Office or Faculty Advisor. They have been provided all of the information to guide you through the process.
If for some reason, they cannot, please have them call Elena Kennedy at 407-246-2790. YOU WILL NOT NEED TO CALL the Training office at City Hall.
Question: All of my paperwork has been submitted through my college, what is next?
Answer: If your school feels you meet the requirements of the position, they will send the application to us. The City of Orlando,
Human Resources will screen your application and if you meet all of our requirements for the position, you will be scheduled for an interview with the hiring department. If you are the candidate selected, then:
- A Records check will be done – once cleared,
- You will be scheduled for a pre-employment physical and drug screen at no cost to you. Once you have cleared this process, you will be hired and notified when you should come in to fill out necessary paperwork.
Question: How long will I be hired for and how much will I be paid?
Answer: Usually you will be hired for 12 weeks, 20 hours per week and will be paid the amount listed on the job posting ($8 – 10.00 per hour) which you will receive every two weeks.
Question: What are my responsibilities during my internship?
Among your responsibilities are:
- To arrive to your job on time.
- To follow the instructions of your supervisor
- To follow policies, procedures as explained to you by your supervisor
- Act in a professional manner at all times
Summary
No matter by what means you learn of our program, please remember you must first be processed and recommended by your college. Your application to the City will not be processed if this first requirement has not been met.
