The City of Orlando Purchasing and Materials
Management Division Earns
The 2011 Award for Excellence and Best Practice in Public Procurement
Award
The City of Orlando Purchasing
and Materials Management Division earned the Award of Excellence in
Public Procurement for 2011.
Additionally, the City of Orlando has
distinguished itself by being one of three (3) recipients of the FAPPO
Best Practices Award for 2011.
The City is one of only twelve (12)
agencies to receive the Award of Excellence in the State of Florida.
Beautiful trophies were presented to Rhonda
S. Ulmer, C.P.M., CPPO, FCCN, Director of Purchasing and Materials
Management, at the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officer’s 44th
Annual Conference and Trade Show on April 18 and 19, 2011.
The Award of Excellence in
Public Procurement was established to recognize organizational
excellence in procurement.
It recognizes agencies that meet or exceed
benchmarks and best practices in the Procurement Profession and is
achieved by those organizations that obtain a high score on a rating of
standardized criteria.
The program is designed to measure
innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership
attributes of the procurement function.
The Excellence in Public Procurement Awards
Program is sponsored by the Florida Association of Public Purchasing
Officers, Inc.
The Purchasing and Materials Management Division is
honored to be distinguished within the State of Florida and recognized
for these great accomplishments.
In addition to achieving the
2011 FAPPO Award of Excellence in Public
Procurement award and Best Practice in
Public Procurement Award, the Purchasing and Materials Management
Division would like to congratulate, Diane Wetherington, Purchasing
Agent II, for achieving the honor of
becoming the winner of the Florida Association of Public Purchasing
Officers (FAPPO) 2011 Essay Contest.
Diane’s
essay centered
around FAPPO’s theme on integrity and professionalism and outshined the
competition in a significant manner. FAPPO’s
President thanked Diane for highlighting the important aspect of
Procurement responsibilities. Diane will be
recognized at the FAPPO 44th Annual Conference and Trade Show in April.
Diane’s Ethics essay will be placed on FAPPO’s website, as well
as on the Purchasing and Materials Management site (essay attached).

improvement and outstanding purchasing practices.
The City is one of twelve agencies in
the State to receive the award.
This award represents the quality of the City's procurement
operation and accomplishments as
purchasing and materials management professionals, eager to serve the
citizens of Orlando.
