The Operation AmeriCorps program is a competitively funded grant which provides funding for the city to deploy 15 full-time AmeriCorps members who work directly with over 1,000 high school juniors and seniors residing in Orlando’s lowest income neighborhoods. The types of service the members provide include:

  • Tutoring
  • SAT/College Prep
  • Advocacy
  • Counseling
  • Workforce development
  • Post-Secondary Planning
  • Mentorship/Guidance

Members also participate in community service projects and engage in conversations with community leaders.

The City of Orlando also has a VISTA Summer Associates Program with the Corporation for National and Community Service. These volunteers work with disadvantaged youth in our community centers and partner organizations and earn a grant to put towards their continuing education or school loans.
