Nesbitt
Photography
“Every time I click the
shutter release button I become a better photographer. With
each assignment my ability to see is enhanced by the intense
passion I feel for photography and the uncompromising pride
I have for my work.” Douglas J. Nesbitt began his career as
a still photographer for Norman Lear Productions and Trump
Films while still attending Los Angeles City College for
photography and journalism. In 1982, Warner Bros. Studios
hired Nesbitt to document the sets for Ridley Scott’s
science fiction film, Blade Runner. He then went on to
become Jesse Jackson’s campaign photographer in 1984. During
the span of his 30-year career his list of subjects includes
comediennes George Carlin and Joan Rivers, jazz legend Miles
Davis, actress Helen Hayes, supermodel Kim Alexis, blues
great Bo Diddley and award-winning composers Henry Mancini
and Randy Newman. In 2004 he was named “artist of the month”
at Orlando Museum of Art Store Gallery and in 2006 his
photograph, “Pacifica” received an Award of Merit for the
Best of Florida Artists Registry exhibition at CityArts
Gallery. Refusing the limitations imposed by specializing
Nesbitt considers himself a “journeyman with a camera.”
Perez 28
Mixed media
“There are many ways to make
a statement and many ways to make that statement heard.”
Perez 28, who is a former student of Ringling School of Art
& Design, enjoys the freedom of creating without restriction
to a certain style, medium or subject matter. In addition to
receiving recognition from Walt Disney World, Seaworld and
Universal Studios, this College Park resident’s artwork has
been commissioned by some of America’s top CEO’s, as well as
clients such as Tiger Woods, Mariah Carey, and Carmen
Electra. His works can be found throughout the United
States, as well as in Japan, France, Italy and Ireland.
Everett Spruill
Mixed media
Everett Spruill’s intensely
colorful, multidimensional works often use layers of glazes,
watercolor, pen and ink, pastels, African textiles,
airbrushed hand-cut stencils, handwritten words and
background photos to transform the canvas into a rich,
opulent surface. "Most of my creations begin with
photographs or several thumbnail sketches. Harmony and
contrast are important qualities I want in my work and it
becomes even more important in the works I call “Intuitive
Creation” (Mindscapes, Tribal Rhythms and Middle Passages
Series) because these images are created mainly by letting
go of conscience thoughts and relying more on instinct.” In
1989, after graduating from Berea College and working as a
hotel manager, Everett began his career as a professional
artist. Listed among his numerous exhibits are the Deland
Fall Festival, Sunfest Fine Art Festival (West Palm Beach,
FL), Steinway Piano Gallery, the Zora Neale Hurston Festival
and Epcot Black Heritage Festival.
