“Open Your Mind,” featuring recent photographs by local photographer Donovan Brooks, is currently on display at the City Hall Terrace Gallery. The photographs document the hardships that some Central Florida residents face on a daily basis.
The gallery will be on display at City Hall until February 27 and is free to visit. The gallery is open form 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-5 p.m. on weekends.
My goal is to preserve the moments captured in their most natural and vulnerable state. My art is unique and my photos are rare but the lifestyle that is captured is far from uncommon,” Brooks said. “The subjects I choose to capture are often silenced in society. I use my photography to lend a voice to a world where their dialogue is unheard, unrepresented and unwanted. But even within all of the negativity and grittiness, there is beauty and hope.”
