Spring in The City Beautiful was again filled with yellow and pink flowers from Tabebuia trees.
The flowering trees only bloom for a few weeks each spring, but when they do, their flowers are so colorful they certainly stand out.
Tabebuia trees are one of the many trees that can be purchased and planted in a City park to honor an individual, group or organization as part of the City’s Dedicated Tree Program. Because of their long life span, trees normally selected include live oak, magnolia and cypress trees.
Once the park is decided upon, the City meets with the individual requesting the tree to verify the location. The tree is purchased, planted and irrigation is installed to guarantee the survival. The tree is approximately 3″ caliper and 14′ tall and costs $500.
The City will present certificates to commemorate the planting of the tree.
