Get ready to be fully immersed in the blues and enjoy some mouthwatering bbq. The 10th Annual Blues B-Q in Downtown Orlando is Saturday, February 27 from 4-10 p.m. at City Commons Plaza on Orange Avenue.
Headlining this year’s free event is the band WAR, known for hit songs like “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” and “Low Rider.” WAR brings the blues you love with a twist of rock. Also performing is The Company, MoMo Browne, CeCe Teneal and other local artists.
During the event, barbecue will be available for purchase from Bubbalou’s BBQ, Hard Rock Catering, Oley’s Smokehouse, Serena’s BBQ and Smokey Jay’s BBQ. Give each place a try to see who really has the best bbq in Central Florida. Don’t worry about missing any of the music when you take a break from the fun to go and eat. One of two stages at the event, the local artist stage, is located in a massive dinning tent.
At the event My Brother’s Keeper Orlando, part of a national initiative that addresses opportunity gaps faced by young men of color, will have a table at the concert. Stop by their table to get information on how you can become a mentor.
Past Blues B-Q acts have included Grammy Award winning artist Betty Wright, Denise LaSalle, Buddy Guy, The Robert Cray Band, Koko Taylor and Jonny Lang.
