September 13, 2017 – ORLANDO, FL – The City of Orlando would like to share some important information as Hurricane Irma storm recovery continues.
PERMITTING FEES WAIVED
In an effort to help the City recover from Hurricane Irma, Mayor Buddy Dyer has issued an Executive Order to waive permit fees for hurricane related damage to assist residents and businesses with making emergency property repairs as promptly as possible.
Residents and businesses who have sustained hurricane damage can start the process by calling the Citizen Information Line at 407.246.HELP(4357) and ask for an inspection of their property.
FEMA ASSISTANCE
A Federal Disaster Declaration has been issued for all 67 counties in the State of Florida. This declaration will allow for the use of federal funds to help City of Orlando residents in Orange County recover from the effects of Hurricane Irma.

REPORT INFORMATION & REQUEST ASSISTANCE:

The Citizen Information Line will be operational on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents should call 407.246.HELP (4357) to report damage, downed trees, traffic lights that are out and get information.
OTHER UPDATES INCLUDE:
TREES:

321 trees down and blocking streets

77 involve power lines, which we are working with OUC to address

45% of city roadways with tree blockage have been cleared
STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO HOMES AND BUSINESSES:

Over 500 reports of structural and electrical damage to homes or businesses.

It’s important that this type of damage be reported to the Citizen Information Line (407.246.HELP) so that a City inspector can assess the damage and the City has proper documentation of the damage.
TRANSPORTATION UPDATE:

Less than100 intersections reported as damaged or without power.

Residents are reminded that an intersection with a broken signal should be treated as a four-way stop.

8 Neighborhood Centers are open for free child care on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 15 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- The City urges everyone to be cautious and take note of on-going cleanup efforts.
- Residents are reminded to NOT dump debris in any park.

Leu Gardens is expected to be closed for at least week due to extensive damage to the grounds. Please contact Leu Gardens at 407.246.2620 regarding scheduled events.
CITY OPERATIONS:
- Tomorrow, Thursday, September 14, the City’s Emergency Operations Center will go to a Level 2 Partial Activation.
