Register for Dover Shores Community Center workshop | Register for Smith Neighborhood Center workshop
City of Orlando residents are invited to free composting workshops hosted by Green Works Orlando staff on April 18 to learn how to compost as well as the benefits of composting. Classes will be held at the Dover Shores Community Center at 9 a.m. and the Smith Neighborhood Center at 11 a.m. The first 25 residents to register will receive a free kitchen scraps collector.
Composting is one way residents can help the City on its path to becoming more environmentally friendly. It helps to divert food and yard waste from the landfill, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Compost can be added to garden soil when gardening or used as a “top dressing” for lawns to improve soil health.
