The first day of Spring Break was a special one for children at the Jackson Community Center. The kids joined staff from the City’s GreenUp Orlando program and the Orlando Magic to learn more about neighborhood beautification and protecting the environment.
Magic guard Ben Gordon and community ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw helped children paint flower pots. The trio then assisted the children add soil and plants.
For the Magic, the visit to the Jackson Center was part of NBA Green Week. During the week, the league, its teams and players participate in greening programs and events to encourage fans to be more environmentally responsible in their communities.
The GreenUp Orlando program helps citizens and groups to plant trees and shrubs and beautify their neighborhoods.
