ORLANDO (CityofOrlando.net) – The City of Orlando is encouraging residents to support the City’s small businesses during National Small Business Week, May 12-16.
Many of these businesses are located in Downtown Orlando and in the City’s Main Street Districts. These districts include the Audubon Park Garden District, Church Street District, College Park Partnership, Downtown South, Ivanhoe Village, Mills 50, Semoran Business Partnership and the Thornton Park District.
Located within these areas are at least 3,326 small businesses. National Small Business Week highlights the contributions and hard work of local entrepreneurs. The week celebrates the success that they have created as business owners. More than half of all Americans either own or work for a small business, which creates about two out of every three jobs in the U.S. each year.
Mayor Buddy Dyer and the City of Orlando support these businesses. Mayor Dyer has a Business Assistance Team available to provide assistance for the launching and operation of a small business, and several local economic development organizations provide technical assistance and mentoring for people who wish to start a business.
