The community of The Villas at Costa Del Sol Homeowners’ Association in District 2 lost their entranceway sign due to Hurricane Charlie in 2004. After learning about the City of Orlando Mayor’s Matching Grant, board members knew exactly how they could build a new sense of neighborhood pride that not even a hurricane could tear down.
With the help of neighborhood volunteers, in-kind contributions and the Mayor’s Matching Grant, The Villas at Costa Del Sol has new entrance way signs. Residents celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz. Now they feel a renewed sense of pride entering and exiting their community because they are reminded of the change they personally had a role in creating.
