On Saturday, November 15, the Orlando Police Department, Harbor House of Central Florida and Valencia College will launch their largest bystander awareness event to date. Their goal is to utilize between 350 to 400 volunteers to visit 20,000 homes and apartments in the City of Orlando and deliver the It Takes Courage door-hanger.
The door-hanger provides information on domestic violence resources in Central Florida.
Following the previous It Takes Courage campaign, there was a 200 percent increase in domestic violence hotline calls and 66 injunctions were filed within 48 hours.
On November 15, on-site registration for volunteers begins at 8 a.m. and the event will begin at 9 a.m. Volunteer teams of 10 will carpool to the designated areas and distribute the door hangers. The event will end at noon.
