In observance of Thanksgiving, City Hall and all city offices will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23, 2018. Residential recycling pick up for Thursday will be postponed to Saturday, November 24. Yard waste and trash will resume on your next scheduled pick up day.

About Mills 50 District
mills50signVisitors will discover a unique blend of independent businesses that specialize in holistic living services, massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture and martial arts. Mills 50 is also home to tattoo studios, visual artists, design studios, photographers, hair salons, restaurants, bakeries, bars, unique shops as well as a winery and brewery.

2016 Accomplishments

  •  Received National Main Street Accreditation for the sixth year in a row
  •  Produced a 2016 calendar featuring the “art dumpsters”
  • Transformed 25 storm drains into “art drains” using local artists
  • Received the Design Award for the “art drain” project at the Orlando Main Street Awards
  • Co-sponsored and produced the Fifth Annual Dragon Parade/Lunar New Year Festival; attended by more than 8,500 people
  • Had local artists paint four “Pulse Tribute” murals and three “You Matter” murals
  • Installed #OrlandoUnited bibs on all Mills 50 banners
  • Sponsored the annual “Back to School” and “Holiday Food Drive” for Ferncreek Elementary School to provide snacks for the students to take home on the weekends and during holiday break
  • Encouraged businesses to participate in Small Business Saturday and provided recyclable bags, door mats, balloons, posters and marketing materials to those businesses who participated
  • Hosted five Business After Hours networking events for business and residential members
  • Hosted four Hump Day Happy Hour and Art Strolls, designed to increase awareness of Mills 50 and participating businesses
  • Hosted four pub crawls – Annual St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl, Annual Approximately 12 Pubs of Christmas Pub Crawl, Annual First Day of Fall Pub Crawl and the Pokemon Go Pub Crawl
  • Sponsored a Business Security/Graffiti Information session
  • Hosted the “Mills 50 Madcap”, a scavenger hunt utilizing the Distrx app
  • Organized a “GreenUp” for volunteers to trim, mulch and fertilize the eight Chinese Fan palm trees along Mills Avenue
  • Produced “Music on Mills”, a one day music and art festival featuring live music on two outdoor stages and three indoor stages as well as an outdoor art/vendor market
  • Conducted the #Mills50 local campaign, which encouraged residents to join Mills 50 and receive coupons, offering free or discounted goods and services from Mills 50 businesses
  • Mills 50 art boxes, art dumpsters and art drains were named “Best Public Art” in the Orlando Weekly “Best of 2016” awards
  • Increased Facebook and Twitter followers to 13,000
