Last week and this weekend, Orlando took center stage as we
hosted nearly 200 of the nation’s Mayors at the 80th annual U.S.
Conference of Mayors at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal
This was the first time the conference was held in Orlando and we
had the highest attendance in USCM conference history with a lot of
the Mayors bringing their spouses and kids.
I am very proud of all the hard work our City staff put into making
this conference such a success. I want to personally thank everyone
who worked on and volunteered at the conference. We couldn’t have
done this without you. Thank you.
2012 Fireworks at the Fountain Join the City of Orlando on Wednesday, July 4, for the City’s
annual Fireworks at the Fountain event starting at 4 p.m. at Lake
Eola. The highlight of this event is a spectacular 15-minute
fireworks display that begins at 9:20 p.m.
At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a
piece of history – or more literally – a piece of the old Lake Eola
Fountain. On sale at the event will be souvenirs that have been made
out of remnants from the original and iconic fountain. All proceeds
will go to benefit the Orlando Community & Youth Trust, Inc.
Orlando Recognized for Future Job Growth Kiplinger magazine has named Orlando as one of eight cities
around the U.S. with the best job growth over the next five
years. Orlando is the highest ranked city in Florida, with health
care being one of the fastest growing sectors in the community.

Semoran Boulevard Improvements On today’s agenda is an item related to sidewalk and streetscape
improvements for the Semoran Boulevard corridor including improving
pedestrian conditions. These projects will help the neighborhood
implement some of the goals outlined in the vision plan for the
The Semoran Boulevard Vision Plan, developed under Commissioner
Ortiz’s leadership, is a long-term guide for future development and
improvements in the area. I would like to take this moment to
recognize Commissioner Ortiz for his leadership role in making all
these positive things happen in District 2 right now. Thank you

thanked OFD Station 6 B Shift for saving Rich's life after he had a
cardiac arrest. The couple spoke as part of an update on the City's
first year as the primary provider of emergency medical transport in
