OBJ Healthiest Employer
IThe City of Orlando has been selected by the Orlando Business Journal as one of Central Florida’s 2017 Healthiest Employers for our innovation and leadership in wellness programs.
This is a testament to the City’s commitment to the health of our employees. And healthy employees also benefit our community as a whole by creating even more savings for our tax payers.
This is the 5th year in a row we have been recognized by OBJ as one of the Healthiest Employer.
Items of Note:
Transportation 3 – Lt. Debra Clayton Honorary Designation
Mayor Dyer took a moment honor two local fallen law enforcement heroes.
Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton and Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy First Class Norman Lewis both had their lives tragically taken while serving our community earlier this year.
On Tuesday, August 8, Council honored their lives by designating a portion of two Orange County roads in each of their names.
The portion of Silver Star Road (S.R. 438) between John Young Parkway and Pine Hills Road will now be known as “Lieutenant Debra Clayton Memorial Highway.”
The portion of Pine Hills Road between Silver Star Road and SR 50 will now be known as “Deputy First Class Norman Lewis Memorial Highway.”
Lt. Clayton began her career with our Orlando Police Department on May 13, 1999 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant posthumously by Chief John Mina.
Throughout her career, Lt. Clayton was deeply involved in community initiatives – especially in working with our youth through programs like Operation Positive Direction and the Dueling Dragons Dragon Boat Team.
