Moment of Silence/Video in Recognition of Pulse Tragedy Victims
The Orlando City Council opened their meeting by honoring the victims of the Pulse tragedy with a moment of silence and a brief video.
Rebecca Sutton’s Retirement
Mayor Buddy Dyer thanked Rebecca Sutton, Chief Financial Officer, for her service. On the financial front, Rebecca helped steer our financial ship during one of the worst economic recessions and she is leaving with the City in the best financial condition of any major city in the State. She was also a major contributor to Venues financing plan and played a key role in the financing plan that ultimately brought Major League Soccer to Orlando.
Rebecca might be the only CFO in the country who is leading the homeless effort for their city. With Rebecca’s leadership, our city has created a comprehensive plan to address veteran and chronic homelessness.
Rebecca will truly be missed and we wish her the best as she enjoys retirement.
Special Meeting
The purpose of the special meeting was to very concisely deal with time-sensitive matters postponed from last week’s cancelled Council meeting. Council dispensed with general appearances for this special meeting, taking public testimony only on items on the Consent Agenda as required by law. Public hearings for the ordinances will be held at second reading, currently scheduled for July 11.
