Orlando Police & Fire Department Teen Academy

In an effort to build and maintain positive youth – police relationships, the Orlando Police Department has designed the Teen Police and Fire Academy (TPFA) for high school students. Lunch will be provided, at no cost and each student’s family will be invited to a catered graduation ceremony on July 21, 2016, hosted by Orlando Police Chief John W. Mina and Orlando Fire Chief Roderick Williams.
During the academy, students will be introduced to the different aspects of the police department: Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigation, the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team and the Emergency Response Team (ERT). The students will also visit OPD’s Communication Center and Gun Range, Valencia College, University of Central Florida, FAMU Law School and The Valencia Criminal Justice Institute, The Orlando Fire Department Museum and Training Facility and will go through simulated training for the fire department and the police department.

The Turner School of Construction Management is an educational program designated by Turner Construction Company to assist disadvantaged, veteran, small, minority and women owned businesses in the best principles and practices in the construction company. Each graduate receives credits for 40 contact hours (4 continuing education units), which can be used towards the renewal of their state contractor’s license.
