BLACK HISTORY MONTH ART EXHIBIT – Orange County Administration Center

The Black History Committee or Orange County, Inc., presents the African American Art display in the Orange County Administration Center. All Art will be on display for the month of February 2015.

Orange County Library System’s storytelling program comes to Leu Gardens the first Monday of each month, excluding holidays. Share stories and songs with your little one. This is a free indoor event. 10:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Infant Time (up to 18 Months) 10:20 a.m. – 10:35 a.m. Toddler Time (18 Months to 2 year olds) 10:40 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Preschooler Time (3 to 5 year olds)

Featuring the movie “Stuck In Love”. (Rated “R”) Enjoy an outdoor movie in a beautiful garden. Blanket/chairs are recommended. You may bring a dinner picnic basket. Alcohol is permitted. Admission is collected at the door. Gardens open at 6 p.m. and movie time at 7:30 p.m. (Weather Permitting) Fee for Adults is $6 plus tax, Fee for Children is $3 plus tax, Free admission for Garden Members.

BLACK HISTORY CELEBRATION LUNCH on the LAWN – Orange County Administration Center, Front Lawn

The Black History Committee of Orange County, Inc., in partnership with the Orange County Government Employees will host our 10th Annual Lunch on the Lawn. The Committee will celebrate Black History Month with vendors selling Soul and Caribbean food, Clothes, Books, Novelties and more. The African American Employees Network will conduct a Health Fair. The event is free, but there is a cost for food and other items sold by vendors.

BLACK HISTORY STORY TELLING HOUR – Washington Shores Early Learning / Head Start Center

The Black History Members and Special Guest will read to the Head Start Kids at Washington Shores Early Learning / Head Start Center Students. These students will meet an inventor and enjoy a story commemorating Black History Month.

PLAYTIME WITH AN INVENTOR AND SPECIAL CHILDREN

The Black History Committee of Orange County, Inc., would like to bring joy and laughter to some special kids who are sick and hospitalized. We will read a story, play some games, and introduce some special kids to an inventor and his ROBOTS.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION GALA – LIVING THE DREAM WITH A DREAMGIRL, SHERYL LEE RALPH

The Black History Committee of Orange County, Inc., presents our 13th Annual Black History Month Celebration Gala and Scholarship Awards Fundraiser. Our Keynote Speaker is Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph,  and our theme is “Living the Dream”. This premiere event will feature live entertainment, recognition of outstanding people in the community, great food, give-a-ways, and more. Don’t Miss It.

 


4 p.m.
(to 10 p.m.), Blues B-Q (Blues Music Concert) @ City Commons Plaza (in front of City Hall), 400 South Orange Avenue.   This is a FREE Blues Music Concert (that will also include some funk and R&B) featuring Betty Wright, The Gerry Williams Band and More.  Presented by the City of Orlando and STAR 94.5 radio station.  Barbecue and other food & drink will be available for purchase.
