Advocacy and Education
Keep Orlando Beautiful - provides
education and volunteer options for many in the community. The
organization is responsible for many of the beautification projects
throughout the city. Some of their highlights include:

Initiating event recycling, which has already produced 6

Collected and recycled 14.2 tons of electronic waste at a
June 2010 event. |
Think Blue - provides education
and incentives for Orlando businesses, ensuring pollution prevention and
water quality protection of Orlando’s lakes. To date, 15 businesses have
joined in training programs and on-site inspections, and pledged to
protect Orlando lakes by eliminating pollutants from entering the
streets and storm drains.
Green
Volunteering - The City utilizes its ongoing initiatives as a mouth
piece for educating and improving the community. In 2010, volunteers
invested 8,181 hours to improve Orlando’s environment.
Solar and Green Business Seminars
– The City has hosted a series of educational solar training classes for
permitting, inspectors, energy mangers and local businesses.
Green Works Website - By the end of
2010, the updated Green Works website will be launched.
