Green Works LifeUrban Forest and Green Space

Urban green space helps combat the urban heat island effect, provides shade, and enhances air quality.

Urban Tree Canopy Study

In the summer of 2012, an Urban Forest assessment was conducted to provide information on Orlando’s existing urban forests – including the structure and composition, occurrence of invasive trees, and the ecosystem services the trees provide. Click here to read the study!

Tree Planting Programs

Trees to Good Homes - Wholesale pricing on trees for neighborhood groups. The City works with neighborhood groups to help select the right trees for the right spots on private property.

Trees in the Parkway - Free trees (no cost to homeowner) for installation in the parkway along City streets. The City determines the most appropriate tree for the location and the resident agrees to water, feed and care for tree until it is established.

Green-Up Orlando encourages citizens, groups and organizations to plant trees and shrubs, beautify their neighborhoods, raise public awareness and pride in Orlando, and promote the benefits of volunteer efforts in partnership with the City.

Residential Landscapes

Florida Friendly Landscapes - Environmental protection begins in your yard! Florida-friendly and native plants require low maintenance and little fertilizing and irrigation. Visit floridayards.org for landscaping tips and a data base of plants.

Leu Gardens Tours, Classes and Workshops - Learn about green gardening, growing edible plants, attracting pollinators (butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds), and more!
