On Thursday, January 29, Mayor Dyer with Heart of Florida United Way and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) kicked off Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day as part of United Way’s Prosperity Campaign of Central Florida.

EITC is a federal tax refund for low-income individuals and families. Don’t miss your chance this year to earn a tax refund up to $4,824. Click here for more information on eligibility requirements.

In addition, more than 30 FREE tax preparation sites in Central Florida will open to help the people in our community claim money they deserve and file their taxes free during these tough economic times.

Items you need to bring with you to prepare your tax return:

• All forms, W-2s, and 1099s
• Information for other income
• Information for all deductions/credits
• A copy of last year’s tax return, if you have a copy
• Proof of account for direct deposit of refund (e.g., voided check)
• Social Security cards for you, dependents and/or spouse
• Photo identification for yourself and your spouse
