Luis M. Martínez Alicea, Director

Luis was appointed by Mayor Buddy Dyer as Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs in January of 2012. His role is based on establishing outreach initiatives with the community as they relate to the needs faced by minorities in Orlando. He serves as spokesperson for the Mayor’s office with the Spanish media and directly tends to affairs of economic, social and entrepreneurial interest for local residents and businesses. He develops strategies to increase the multicultural community involvement. Luis initiates and coordinates with the collaboration of the chambers of commerce and professional associations, entrepreneurial missions to promote and position Orlando as an ideal and fruitful destination for investments, relocation and expansion of Latin American businesses. He has a Bachelors degree in Communications from the University of Sagrado Corazon in Puerto Rico and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Metropolitana de Orlando. Before joining the Mayor’s team, Martinez was the manager of a number of community based initiatives and philanthropy through his excellent performance in the media and private enterprise.

Hispanic Office for Local Assistance (HOLA)

Alicia has served the City of Orlando since February 2001 and was selected to direct the Hispanic Office of Local Assistance (HOLA) in March 2006. She has extensive experience working with community assistance programs and volunteers and a full knowledge of government structures She has a Bachelor’s degree in Art from the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, with a concentration in Business Administration. She has been certified by the State of Florida as a crime prevention practitioner and holds multiple state certifications in economic assistance affairs. Alicia is highly respected in the community and has earned the admiration and affection of everyone by her high level of commitment to public service. She was selected as Employee of the Year by the City of Orlando, receiving the "McNamara Employee of the Year Award”, the highest and most notable recognition conferred by the Mayor to his employees.

Diana started her work at the Hispanic Office for Local Assistance in 2008. She provides administrative support helping the Hispanic community with information and referrals to public agencies and community organizations. She also manages the telephone “hotline” for this office, prepares reports and information documents besides collaborating in the coordination of meetings and activities. She has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Universidad de la Salle in Colombia.
