MAYOR
BUDDY DYER TO RING IN HOLIDAY SEASON AT
LOCAL WAL-MART
| WHAT: |
Orlando
Mayor Buddy Dyer will be a special guest bell ringer for the
Salvation Army's "Red Kettle" fundraising efforts at a local
Wal-Mart this Friday. Wal-Mart has a long-standing
relationship with the Salvation Army, and that partnership will
continue to be important to Wal-Mart this Christmas. For the
third year in a row, we have extended the days for the Salvation
Army's "Red Kettle" fundraising efforts in U.S. Wal-Mart and
Sam's Club locations. Bell ringers began collecting donations
the day after Thanksgiving and will continue through Christmas
Eve.

| BACKGROUND: |
The
Salvation Army regularly reports that they collect more funds
for their Red Kettle campaign at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club than at
any other locations. Contributions can also be made at
www.walmart.com to the “online kettle.” Last year, our customers
contributed $30 million, more than one-fourth of The Salvation
Army's total collections. These funds help The Salvation Army in
their mission to "do the most good," servicing more than 35
million people last year. The Wal-Mart Foundation will once
again this year make a $1 million contribution to The Salvation
Army.
