City of Orlando, UCF Host House of Moves Grand Opening at FIEA

WHAT: The company that brought movies such as Titanic, The Polar Express and Spider-Man 2 to life has arrived in Orlando.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and UCF President John Hitt will host a grand opening Monday, Jan. 7 for one of the East Coast’s largest motion-capture studios at the University of Central Florida’s downtown digital-media campus.

Vicon Entertainment’s House of Moves recently completed work on the 3,500-square-foot motion-capture studio at the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy, UCF’s graduate video-gaming school in the former Expo Centre.

The new 46-camera studio is a fully integrated film, video and audio facility that virtually captures human movements for entertainment, sports or medical uses. In addition to major film companies, House of Moves’ video-game clients include Electronic Arts, Nintendo, Sega and Ubisoft.

House of Moves, the world’s most experienced motion-capture service studio, is the latest addition to the Downtown Orlando Creative Village. House of Moves new East Coast studio will not only serve as a catalyst for the Creative Village, but will also build on Orlando’s existing industries -- digital media, military simulation and the emerging bio-medical cluster.

The Creative Village is being driven by Mayor Dyer’s plans to turn the current 90-acre site of the Amway Arena into a mixed-use office, residential and retail development, anchored by UCF’s School of Film and Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy.
