Orlando,
FL – February 25, 2008 – On February 25, Mayor Buddy Dyer
announced a grant application for community based organizations
to provide job seeker referral services for employment
opportunities with the Community Venues projects. The grant is
part of The Blueprint for Using Community Venues to Create a
Sustainable Economic Impact, which intends to provide local
residents with opportunities for employment and other job
training services in partnership with Workforce Central
Florida.
The Blueprint Workforce
Grant will utilize and fund several local non-profit
organizations to function as workforce development
community-based organizations. The selected community-based
organizations will provide targeted community outreach,
advocacy, intake, assessment and employment referral services to
support “The Blueprint.”
“The Blueprint” is a comprehensive approach to leveraging the
Community Venues projects to create local jobs and local
business growth. This process will also engage a diverse
cross-section of the region to address the role economic
development and social programs will play in the Community
Venues.
Selected organizations will
receive a short-term grant to enable them to provide these
services through October 31, 2008. The maximum funding
available for organizations is a matching grant of $25,000.

Eligibility
Requirements:
- Be a
federally tax exempt 501c(3) charitable and faith-based
organizations.
- Have been
in operation for at least one year as a 501c(3) with a
minimum of one staff person working directly for the
organization.
- Be located
in or provide services within Orange County, Florida.
- Provide
targeted outreach, advocacy and employment referral services
to support the Blueprint initiative.
- Agree to
work with Workforce Central Florida.
