Mayor Dyer Continues Commitment to Increasing Neighborhood Safety with Opening of South West Neighborhood Police Office

WHAT: On April 30, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum, District 6 City Commissioner Samuel B. Ings and Police Chief Val Demings will open the City’s fifth community sub-station. The Southwest Community Police Office will serve the growing MetroWest section of the City of Orlando, increasing response times and police presence in those neighborhoods.

More than 50 patrol officers will report to the Southwest Community Police Office. The substation will also include a community room, which will be available for neighborhood meetings and gatherings.

The substation is part of Mayor Dyer’s continuing commitment to public safety and his three-year, multi-million dollar Public Safety Initiative, which put additional police officers patrolling our streets, established the Safe Orlando Task Force to develop short and long-term recommendations, and OPD's deployment of TAC units and Operation Delta.

WHEN:

Wednesday, April 30 at 2 p.m.

WHERE:

6401 Raleigh Street
