| The City of Orlando continues to
monitor Tropical Storm Fay and remains open for business today,
Friday, August 22, 2008. Due to the high
volume of rain, the City’s Public Works Department is
experiencing increased rain water into its wastewater system. As
a result, the City is encouraging residents to keep water usage
to a minimum, including limiting the use of washing machines,
dishwashers and showers until after the storm passes.
In addition, businesses are reminded not to
lift sanitary manhole covers to drain standing water on their
property.
Reminder: The City is NOT distributing sand bags today.
For more information about hurricane
preparedness, residents can visit the City's web page at:
www.cityoforlando.net/emergency
Residents may also tune into the City’s
emergency radio station, 1650 AM, for information on the storm.
This new service provides information both before and after a
storm, and is especially designed for residents who lose power
during a storm.
Additional information will be relayed through
the City's web site and through print and electronic media as
soon as it becomes available. |
