Program targets at risk middle and high school students ORLANDO, FL. OCTOBER 4, 2008 — The AT&T Foundation - the corporate philanthropy organization of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that City of Orlando’s After-School All-Stars (ASAS) program is being awarded a $71,500 grant to further aid the non-profit in achieving its mission to “keep children safe and help them achieve in school and in life.” The AT&T Foundation will present a check to the Orlando chapter at the 9th Annual Kids Klassic Golf Tournament, a benefit for ASAS, on Saturday, October 4th, 2008 at the Dubsdread Golf Course. Through ASAS, more than 1,200 youth have been introduced to the game of golf from the Hook a Kid on Golf program. Hook a Kid on Golf is a free golf clinic, instructed by trained professionals and golf enthusiasts. ASAS is a valuable resource in bringing core programs of academic support, enrichment, and health and physical fitness to the City of Orlando. ASAS combines fun with educational activities at no cost ranging from tournaments, clinics, cultural events, education, and community enrichment programs. After school programming is offered at six middle schools which includes sports programs such as tennis, golf and ice hockey. A seven week summer camp for middle school students further supports ASAS’s mission to provide safety and the opportunity to achieve for at risk students. “All Floridian's share the cost of school attrition through the loss of productive workers and the higher costs associated with increased incarceration, health care and social services” said Marshall Criser, III, AT&T president – Florida. “ASAS inspires at risk students to stay in school and graduate, giving them a foundation to achieve success in life.” After School All Stars offers a proven alternative for middle school
