| On Thursday November
6, 2008 Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Fire Chief James Reynolds
will break ground on Orlando’s newest fire station.
Fire Station Number 1 will serve Orlando’s
downtown core and provide residents with fire/rescue services.
The facility will also serve as headquarters for the entire
Orlando Fire Department. It will house the Orlando Fire
Department’s:
- Administration offices
- Special operation Haz-Mat
- Dive water rescue
- High angle and arson/bomb
- Fire safety management
All of these services will now be centrally
located within the new OFD headquarters.
Additionally, Fire Station 1 will be an
“environmentally-friendly” or LEED Certified building. With the
completion of Fire Station 1, Orlando will boast a total of four
LEED certified fire facilities.
