Mayor Dyer Breaks Ground on
New Orlando Fire Department Headquarters

On Thursday November 6, 2008 Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Fire Chief James Reynolds will break ground on Orlando’s newest fire station.

Fire Station Number 1 will serve Orlando’s downtown core and provide residents with fire/rescue services. The facility will also serve as headquarters for the entire Orlando Fire Department. It will house the Orlando Fire Department’s:

  • Administration offices
  • Special operation Haz-Mat
  • Dive water rescue
  • High angle and arson/bomb
  • Fire safety management

All of these services will now be centrally located within the new OFD headquarters.

Additionally, Fire Station 1 will be an “environmentally-friendly” or LEED Certified building. With the completion of Fire Station 1, Orlando will boast a total of four LEED certified fire facilities.
