Roll-up Their Sleeves to Get Seasonal Flu Shots
| WHAT: |
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor
Richard Crotty along with two area hospital leaders and a health
official will roll up their sleeves to get their seasonal flu
shots on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Lars Houmann, president and CEO of
Florida Hospital, Shannon Elswick, president of Orlando Health’s
Adult Hospital Group, and Dr. Kevin M. Sherin of the Orange
County Health Department will come together to encourage the
Central Florida community to get vaccinated in order to help
prevent the spread of the seasonal influenza virus.
Additionally, Mayor Dyer and Mayor Crotty will make a special
proclamation.
Every year, more than 200,000 people are
hospitalized from seasonal flu-related complications and
approximately 36,000 people die from flu-related causes. Getting
