FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Downtown Development Board Launches
‘Twiscounts’ for Downtown Merchants

ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2009) – Looking for specials at Downtown Orlando businesses? All you have to do is tweet – that is, follow the tweets of the Downtown Development Board on its new Twitter page, http://twitter.com/DWNTWN_ORLANDO.

The DDB today is launching the first in a series of “Twiscounts” – discount coupons available only through Twitter that can be redeemed at merchants throughout Downtown Orlando.
The first Twiscount will quench consumers’ thirst with a free Sangria, Mimosa or Bloody Mary, with the purchase of an entrée, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at 310 Lakeside, 301 E. Pine St., Orlando.

The program is part of the Downtown Development Board’s aggressive move into social media.
On Thursday (Oct. 1), the DDB unveiled a new, interactive Web site at DowntownOrlando.com, providing users with online tools to better explore the central business district’s businesses, neighborhoods and other attractions. Google-based maps allow site visitors to search out and learn details about various venues, such as a new nightclub or restaurant, and even find the closest area to park. Users also can post and review comments, submit new items and listings and vote on topical subjects. Right now, voting is taking place on a new logo for downtown.

Downtown Orlando also is active on Facebook at www.facebook.com/DowntownOrlando, providing a continuous stream of news and event information.
