 MAYOR
DYER AND COMMISSIONER ORTIZ CELEBRATE THE FOUR-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE
HISPANIC OFFICE OF LOCAL ASSISTANCE
|
WHAT: |
When Ivette Rosado moved to Orlando with her
daughter from Puerto Rico, she did not know anyone and
needed assistance finding a job and connecting with the
tools and resources necessary for a successful transition to
their new community here in Orlando. Ivette contacted the
City of Orlando’s Hispanic Office of Local Assistance (HOLA)
and was able to secure a full-time job at a medical company
through the assistance she received.
For the past four years, the HOLA office has provided
valuable information and referral services to new residents
and families to our community, like Ivette, connecting them
with more than 140 government and community organizations to
find jobs, housing, healthcare services, educational
opportunities and many other resources.
Last year alone, the HOLA office provided assistance,
education and information to more than 15,000 individuals
and families through personal visits, fairs, seminars,
training, exhibits and the bilingual, information phone line
407-254-HOLA.
On Tuesday, May 11, Orlando Mayor Dyer and District 2 City
Commissioner Tony Ortiz will celebrate the four-year
anniversary of the HOLA office with other City of Orlando
Commissioners, Hispanic community and business leaders and
local residents.
