Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to Lead Community Forum on SunRail Job
Opportunities

WHAT: On Thursday, May 13, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Daisy W. Lynum will host an information session that will lay out the spectrum of job opportunities expected to be generated from the creation of Central Florida’s first commuter rail line – SunRail.

Residents will learn how this dynamic transportation project can benefit both local businesses and job seekers. Florida Department of Transportation representatives will be on-hand to provide information for business owners on the SunRail procurement process, prequalification requirements and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) / minority-business certification procedures.

Additionally, members of the City’s BLUEPRINT Employment Office will be available to assist attendees in completing the registration application for jobs through the BLUEPRINT Employment Office. The BLUEPRINT office was established during the development of the Community Venues to help ensure major public building projects would have a positive impact on the local community in terms of job creation for residents.

SunRail is expected to create approximately 3,000 jobs in Orange County alone over the next three years. Please see this document economic impact document for complete job creation numbers region-wide.
