Mayor Dyer and Orlando City Commissioners
will officially break ground on the President Barack Obama
Parkway Extension Project on Friday, June 18. The Parkway,
formerly Pine Hills Road / Mission Road, was recently
renamed President Barack Obama Parkway by the Orlando City
Council to honor the 44th President.
When all segments of the President Barack
Obama Parkway extension are completed, the new roadway, as
well as the existing segments of Pine Hills Road, will be a
nine-mile long continuous connection from Beggs Road in the
Apopka Area to Conroy Road in the Millenia Area.
The 3.3 mile parkway extension project
begins at the intersection of President Barack Obama Parkway
and Conroy Road and ends 500 feet north of the intersection
of Pine Hills Road and Old Winter Garden Road. The existing
arterial roadway continues north of Old Winter Garden Road
as Pine Hills Road to Beggs Road in Apopka.
