This Saturday, Orlando’s hometown university,
the UCF Knights will battle the Southern Methodist
University Mustangs at the Bright House Networks Stadium in
the Conference USA Championship game.
In support of UCF before the championship game, Orlando
Mayor Buddy Dyer will officially proclaim Saturday as “UCF
Knights Day” in the City of Orlando.
Mayor Dyer is encouraging all Central Florida residents to
wear black and gold tomorrow and show their spirit for the
UCF Knights football team. In addition, the spire of the
Amway Center will light up black and gold on Saturday,
December 4 in support of UCF.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at
Noon, the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights will battle the
Southern Methodist University (SMU) in the Conference USA Championship
game at Bright House Networks Stadium on the campus of UCF; and
WHEREAS, the 2010 season has been one of the most memorable and
record-breaking seasons in UCF football history. The Knights are
currently ranked #25 in the USA Today coaches’ poll; and
WHEREAS, A victory over the SMU Mustangs (7-5) would give the
Knights a school record-tying 10th win of the season; and
WHEREAS, The winner of the Conference USA Championship game,
would receive an automatic berth in the historic Liberty Bowl game,
December 31, in Memphis, TN, and face a team from the always-tough
Southeastern Conference; and
WHEREAS, UCF alumni and all college football fans throughout the
Central Florida community are encouraged to don the school colors of our
hometown university, black and gold, in an effort to U-Knight and
support UCF;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BUDDY DYER, Mayor of the City of Orlando, hereby do
Proclaim Saturday, December 4, 2010, as
“UCF Knights Day”
in the city of Orlando.
