CITY OF ORLANDO MONITORS TROPICAL STORM ISAAC
City Emergency Managers in Dialogue with
Local, Volunteer, State and Federal Organizations
ORLANDO, FL (August 24, 2012) – Orlando Mayor Dyer and
the City of Orlando’s Office of Emergency Management have taken
proactive steps in monitoring Tropical Storm Isaac, working with various
local, volunteer, state and federal organizations, to ensure Orlando
citizens and all of Central Florida are prepared for a possible storm.
City Emergency Managers continue to be in constant dialogue with
officials from the National Hurricane Center and State Emergency
Management Division to obtain the most up-to-date information for
citizens. The City of Orlando’s Emergency Operations Center remains at
the monitoring level and City departments are continuing to take
precautionary measure for any potential impacts from a possible storm.
Mayor Dyer encourages all residents, visitors and businesses to closely
monitor the storm, stay informed and begin preparing family emergency
kits.
Residents should not place limbs, leaves and other material at the curb
until their regularly scheduled yard waste collection day or until the
City announces alternate plans after a storm. Limbs and bags of leaves
can be placed next to the resident's home during a storm and then placed
curbside after a storm has passed. This will help reduce possible
flooding problems and allow for easy pick up after the storm has passed.
For information on ways residents and businesses can get prepared and
remain informed during a hurricane, please visit the Office of Emergency
Management’s website at www.cityoforlando.net/emergency, follow them on
