Orlando Mayor Dyer Seeks Resident Input to Help the City Create
the Next Phase of Environmental Goals
Orlando, FL – (October 11, 2012) – How do you
green? Do you have ideas on ways to preserve our environment for future
generations? Do you want more sustainability initiatives to save you
money?
At Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s State of Downtown address on October 3,
2012, he announced the City’s launch of the next phase of Green Works
Orlando which will engage more residents and businesses in the efforts
to “go green.” Mayor Dyer launched Green Works Orlando in 2007, and
since then the City of Orlando has worked to become one of the greenest
cities in America.
One of the main community engagement efforts Mayor Dyer announced as
part of this second phase includes an interactive forum hosted on www.GreenWorksOrlando.com,
powered by the company Mind Mixer. The interactive site provides
questions that residents can answer, second the ideas of others or
provide feedback as to how to continue to make Orlando a more
sustainable and livable community. These suggestions will be used as
the foundation for Orlando’s future sustainability plans.
“We want to hear directly from our residents on ways they think Orlando
can continue to innovate, conserve and protect our environment,” said
Mayor Dyer. “Your suggestions could play a key role in helping to shape
future policies in our City and ensure Orlando remains one of the most
environmentally-conscious cities in our country.”
Not only will residents be able to express their thoughts and ideas
through the interactive forum, participants will also have the
opportunity to earn points and redeem them for rewards. The “Rewards
Store” will feature things like a tour inside the Lake Eola Fountain, an
air boat ride at the Orlando Wetlands Park or an opportunity to choose
the color of the Lake Eola Fountain for one night.

City’s next phase of sustainability for our community.
