Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Proclaims Solar Bears Purple Day in the
City of Orlando
Central Florida Residents are Encouraged to Wear
Purple in Support of the Solar Bears
This Saturday, October 20, Orlando’s hometown ECHL team, the Solar
Bears, will play their first home game against the Florida Everblades at
the Amway Center.
In support of the Solar Bears before their first game, Orlando Mayor
Buddy Dyer has officially proclaimed Friday as “Solar Bears Purple Day”
in the City of Orlando.
Mayor Dyer is encouraging all Central Florida residents to wear purple
on Friday, October 19 and show their spirit for the Orlando Solar Bears.
PROCLAMATION - CITY OF ORLANDO
WHEREAS, the Orlando Solar Bears are Orlando’s
hometown ECHL team and have announced the Houston Aeros of the AHL and
the Minnesota Wild of the NHL as affiliates; and
WHEREAS, the team will revive the name of
the original IHL Orlando Solar Bears who played from 1995 to 2001, and
will keep their colors while adding gold, and;
WHEREAS, the first home game of the Solar Bears “Out
of Hibernation” season is against the Florida Everblades on Saturday,
October20, 2012 at the Amway Center in Downtown Orlando; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orlando supports the Solar Bears
in their 2012-2013 season and encourage the citizens of Orlando to
demonstrate their support of Orlando Solar Bears by wearing purple on
Friday, October 19.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BUDDY DYER, Mayor of the City of Orlando, hereby do
Proclaim Friday, October 19, 2012 as
“SOLAR BEARS PURPLE DAY” in the City of Orlando.
