Marching With Pride for Veterans
Mayor Dyer Salutes Our Veterans With the
13th Annual Orlando Veterans Day Parade
Mayor Buddy Dyer invites Central Florida residents and visitors to join
him and his Veterans Advisory Council to honor the courageous men and
women of our armed forces at the 13th annual Orlando Veterans Day Parade
on Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Downtown Orlando.
The parade will kick off with a tribute to those who have fought for our
country and defended our freedom led by Mayor Dyer and local veterans.
This year, the parade will also pay tribute to members of our armed
forces who have served or are currently serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
This year’s grand marshal is Donna Hay, an active community volunteer
and widow of the late Paul G. Hay, former chairman of the Mayor’s
Veterans Advisory Council. Mrs. Hay has been a driving force behind the
scenes of the Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council and Veterans Day Parade
since 2005. The parade will provide a unique way to honor and pay
tribute to both Donna and Paul Hay and recognize their many years of
service to the City, veterans and the country.
The parade will consist of a variety of participants including: men and
women from more than 100 Central Florida veteran organizations, active
duty military, high school marching bands and JROTCs, UCF AFROTC and
Marching Knights and Virginia Tech’s Regimental Band.
